@sickburnbro What? Are we going to sanction them harder? We can't even stop the houthis from shutting down vital shipping lanes. No one in the US would support the kind of force deployment necessary to bring "severe consequences to iran."
@sickburnbro No one can stop them from firing nukes, but a hell of a lot of people in the US would have a "are we the bad guys?" moment. It would be a huge miscalculation by the ptb. And there's no way that Joe or kamala could stand in front of the nation and justify it. They would have to stage a huge false flag of they want to go nuclear and not lose the country.
@Rocket that sounds reasonable, but it seems like the media is also just not reporting on the hurricane, so maybe they'll have a war and just not tell anyone. ( or hope they can do a few strikes and get iran to back down? )
@eee@Rocket the majority opinion does matter; the mistake of assuming it doesn't is how people get military coup'd. The problem is that exactly what public opinion *is* requires thinking about a lot of unpleasant things, like "people will sign up for slaughtering other people when they think those people have it better than them, as long as you give them a good excuse"
@sickburnbro Israel is allowed to do as they please and you better be happy with it. It is the sacred duty of the USA to be the guarantor of their impunity in doing whatever the fuck they want to whomever they decide to.
They will have infinity planes, tanks, guns, bombs, nukes, anything they would ever need is the USA's sacred duty to procure and pay for.
Don't ask me why beyond the moronic Evangelical motivation I have no clue why this is, I'm just stating reality, and you and I will pay for it.
Sadly save and act of God there is no stopping the Jews in genociding their Arab neighbors.
@eee@Rocket If public opinion didn't matter elites could do whatever hair-brained schemes they desire.
It's a bit trickier to prove that something *doesn't* happen, of course, But a simple example is the whole 'Brat' thing, where they tried to push this framing of Kamallama that felt flat and was just deep sixed.
Another older example is "limited fallout" - where governments slowly reveal truth in order to assuage people.
We are kind of seeing that now with the covid stuff.
