I'd say plan accordingly.
The workers assume this is a good time to force their hand, but the elite are the most detached they have been in probably 100 years.

@matty There is a possibility that the strike will resolve yeah. But we're talking with percentages here, and it's smart to prepare, a little. What I would suggest is every time one of these kind of things happens, just say "oh wow, let me do 1 additional thing to prepare"

Nothing ever happens just like with the railway workers.

@Alex_Fog @matty yeah, that's the real interesting point - if the government tries to force their hand, will the workers just decide to break the law? They may not have gamed this out, but it will probably come to that.

@Alex_Fog @matty it's not really close to the trucker thing. It is very close to the train union thing.

@Alex_Fog @matty the key is to pay attention to exactly what is happening, not what the media wants to paint; the odds are still against anything happening, the system still has a lot of residual power. So the details lets you know how strong it still is.

@abner that's not true; I look at it like a stock. You can buy it when it is cheap, but you can also buy it as the price goes up. Being properly prepared has a carrying cost too, so it's maybe more like a commodity, but anyway - as long as you know you need to buy it, and like a stock, you can get to a point where it doesn't matter how much you want to buy it, if no-one is selling, you aren't buying.

If you haven't prepared for shortages already you are absolutely ngmi

@abner indeed. that's why I'm saying "it's not too late" but honestly think that for most people there isn't a ton of effective planning you can do without a community plan, and most people don't live in a community that is ready to deal with that.

This is why you buy before it stops being sold/in stock

@sickburnbro @Alex_Fog @matty I need to spend some time studying the 1988 Polish worker's strike for possible "history rhyming" conditions.
