As COVID gets better at infecting us and better at sticking around in our bodies and shutting down our immune systems, it seems clear two things will happen: 1) incidence of Long COVID will skyrocket, and 2) acute symptoms will be reduced to almost nothing.

This is the most dangerous combination *imaginable*, because most people are laboring under the kind of bio edu you get in 9th grade, just like I was in 2019. They think symptoms = severity.

Healthcare workers are now burned out, feel betrayed, and are indeed "letting it rip", and that is because the public were fucking arseholes and attacked them instead of doing such easy things, and because politicians and lawmakers stabbed them in the back.

So no, John, healthcare workers are NOT going to ride in and save people from themselves this time, because once the public started attacking them, that deal was off.

It is going to take a century of more to rebuild that trust

Fucking groups of armed men showing up at healthcare professional's workplaces, at their homes, men lurking around their kid's schools, their children and family receiving death threats over the phone.
Fucking plots to abduct and torture leaders who still held firm on mask mandates

At that point most healthcare institutions did what the WHO advises when violence against healthcare workers begins - they retreated.

So now healthcare workers aren't stopping you anymore

So let's rewind to how this played out in the US, as a good example.

ALKL the medical bodies said to get vaxed, wear masks, socially distance, etc. That was the practice, and those were the guidelines and mandates.

Then arsehole politicians decided to use that as a cudgel, and rabble-roused over "freedom", and soon we had the "face diaper" and other bullshit memes, and healthcare professionals and frontline workers like aircrew got public blowback

      Ok Joh.

      Let's do it

      1. You weren't talking about "accurately diagnose illness", you were talking about healthcare professionals vs public reaction and government policy and laws. Not at all weird, not at all the topic.

      2. I defy you to find any medical body that says "COVID is just a minor cold", and likewise, who the fuck is saying PASC is "rare". I think you are just making shit up

      3. "majority of doctors and nurses are "letting it rip""
True, but lets drop anchor here

It's weird that wanting healthcare professionals to *accurately diagnose illness* is now wanting them to be "saviors"? Isn't that, like, *most of their job*?

Most people believe doctors and the CDC when they say that Long COVID is rare, the vaccines work, and COVID is just a minor cold now. You can hardly blame them for following the people entrusted with *preventing disease*.

Also, the vast majority of doctors and nurses are "letting it rip", even around very sick people.

"Our medical authorities will declare crises of fitness, nutrition, loneliness, phones, pollution - anything to avoid copping to their catastrophic failure. "

No, it continues until we stop being a shitty society and electing shitty politicians.
Please stop trying to turn healthcare professionals into a savior that must rescue everyone from being shits or be damned as being guilty of people's shittiness

Tests, screenings, biomarkers, etc can do nothing against people's shittiness

Not only will people suddenly start dropping from strokes and heart attacks, developing diabetes and autoimmune disease - they'll also just get sicker and sicker and sicker. Everyone will be sick, all the time.

Our medical authorities will declare crises of fitness, nutrition, loneliness, phones, pollution - anything to avoid copping to their catastrophic failure.

And it will continue like this until we get biomarker tests. Then they'll start looking for treatments but not cures, bc money.
