Re the above, if you’re looking for Paul’s personal inexpert advice:
- Now’s a good time to wear a mask in crowds and indoors.
- If you were considering delaying your latest booster to time it out for the winter peak, I’m not sure that’s such a good idea. A peak is already here. (Keep in mind that you may be able to get an extra booster mid-winter; in the US, nobody stops you from getting extra boosters AFAICT, though insurers may not pay for it this time.)

@inthehands I tested positive last week for the first time. I had two business trips in a row and I was careful most of the time but not every minute.
This asshole-errant’s reply here is grotesquely inappropriate in both tone and implication. It would better been have phrased as a question. But social fail aside, it’s a good question. The answer:
Hospitalization numbers from that source apparently lag by nearly a month. They went down when wastewater numbers went down in late August, and…we have no more recent data.
Rather than cloud the issue, I elected to focus on the data that’s current.
@inthehands @Hunterrules0_o The consequences of Covid infections are more than just hospitalizations and death. Long Covid, strokes, diabetes, heart attacks, other CV problems are very common, particularly on reinfection. Paul was talking about the likelihood of infection, which rises with waste water levels, so the other lines were not as relevant. Plus they are available via his link, so...
