   liking how a thrown-together "just works" hacky theme looks
   
   like, the former invites wanting to theme everything, add plymouth to boot and shit
   
   the latter, fits me loving how the raw openrc boot and tty login looks
   
   hmm, would you say "raw init log lines boot and tty login into a pretty themed gui" counts as an aesthetic?

     @navi I feel like the only funky thing I'd do for bootup is custom kernel logo (CONFIG_LOGO) but given my machines tend to have an uptime of a month, not really worth it.
     
     Although I did change Grub welcome message but it's also useful to make sure the right disk/grub loaded: https://hacktivis.me/git/etc_portage/file/patches/sys-boot/grub/grub-2.02_tenshi.patch.html

     @lanodan i got into the habit of powering off every night, and booting up every morning
     
     initially it was because i was too lazy to figure out why setting up hibernation on btrfs was failing, but then it kinda made me feel a bit better every morning because, i'd start from a fresh session, mails and irc messages would raise notify, and i could take things one at a time
     
     and then there's also the steam deck which runs gentoo and will be rebooted quite often ~w~
