     @vriska yeah one good thing about Oregon and Washington is that we have a really big river with a bunch of huge dams on it making our electricity very cheap

     @cine yeah the big issue with solar is that late July - January you don't get any consistent sun because it's rainy season. I'm not actually sure if the island wide power usage is very high. it seems like people here are married to gasoline though. the only obviously American thing about this island is that everyone has two cars

     @vriska Figured as much. Though I was thinking in terms of area and it being an island, so not enough area for solar, but seasons seem a more thorny issue. I guess burning gas is cheaper than any alternative given the constraints.

     @cine not enough sun here six months a year to do solar and lack the population or infrastructure for anything else so it's three gas burning powerplants
