   Based on this thread we should not expect #diaspora to adopt #activitypub and join the #fediverse unfortunately.
   I'd really want to see all existing (and new) social networks join the Fedi for cross-posting and cross-following one day.

     @nickelson this, but with every other protocol as well.

     Nobody is playing nice, officially.

     Nostr is only bridged because of third party bridges.

     BlueSky is the same.

     There's no other protocol that seemingly cares about actual open communication.

     The dev there has some delusion that AP won't give their users better engagement...😂 That's laughable honestly.

     Any excuse to stifle open communication seems to be the norm.🤦♂️

     @BeAware Yeah, they have mentioned about differences from their platform, however inside the fediverse we already have different layout/functionality/ui and that it not really an obstacle for federation imo. Mastodon, Pixelfed and Friendica for example - all are different but work together fine...

     @nickelson @BeAware Well.. for friendica, activitypub is just a plugin like diaspora* is ... cuz it's native protocol would be DFRN. ;)

     @hackbyte @BeAware hmm I guess friendica has a specific plugin allowing mutual communication with dispora? Actually, I've watched couple of videos about current friendica sate and quite like their facebook-alike UI (I never was a twitter guy but facebook). On the other hand there seems barely any functional English language instances available atm: https://dir.friendica.social/servers/en 😕
