   Without looking it up, do you know which year in the UK (or US) women were allowed to get a bank account in their own name?

   A lot of people guessed correctly. 74 US and 75 UK.

   That's incredible if you take a second to think about it.

   You can't start a business, get proper employment, get a mortgage, even get a loan.

   The wheels of the economy are not available for you because you lack the configuration of genitals.

   This is not even history, it's practically yesterday.

     It seems that up until the mid 70s, the issue was that Banks were discriminating against women, the new law prevented this.

     Those saying "this doesn't mean women were not allowed". You are wrong.

     This is how bigotry works. When the law turns a blind eye to discrimination, you are "not allowed".

     When a restaurant puts up a sign banning people based on skin pigmentation, those people are "not allowed" regardless of laws.

     Don't diminish the impact of discrimination through anecdotal exceptions.
