   Just a heads up: My instance is about to block mastodon.social. If you are on that instance, we hope you will consider moving to a different instance. The racism, bigotry, abuse, and hatred on mastodon.social is out of control and the admins have no desire to fix it. At this point, we have no choice but to defederate them. #mastodon #fediblock

     @bishop I have a feeling this will be the norm soon.

     They're making themselves suffer because they refuse to add any sort of useful moderation features to the platform for some weird reason.

     Even just automatic reporting based on keywords would help.

     A moderator or admin having to *see* the offensive content themselves to remove it is the problem.

     Most users don't report because on the corporate platforms, reporting literally doesn't matter, so they don't do it here either.

     @BeAware I agree completely. I review all reports made on our platform. We don't have the number of users mastodon.social has, but they also have more moderators and admins than we do. So they could do a better job, they just choose not to. The number of instances dropping them should be an indication that changes need to be made, but sadly, they will not realize until the whole ship is submerged.

     @bishop tbh, I don't know if they do have more moderators.

     They only have like 4 paid employees, so unless they have anonymous volunteers, I doubt they have more than those 4. Maybe 5.

     Not 100% sure on that though. It's not an excuse when they can just add automated reporting and probably handle the issues way easier. Then the entire Fediverse would benefit. But nah, they want control of Fedi without the work thats required for that.

     @bishop PS. I've been personally blocked by Eugen because of these exact criticisms.

     I'd be HIGHLY surprised if they eventually add it.

     I also believe they're goal to control Fedi is why they haven't made migrating work better.

     Last time I tried migrating I lost like 200 people.

     I want to get off this badly ran software, but I feel kinda stuck cause I don't want to lose friends or posts again.😔

     @BeAware I love the Mastodon platform itself, but I do not like many of the instances. They are poorly run and even worse about moderation.
