@larsmb But they don't—an audience that _actually_ values presentation despises low effort AI generated garbage illustrations.
So you piss people off who like polished articles and presentations and you piss people off who'd be fine with just a well-written article.
@thomasfuchs From such choices I can immediately tell that they're addressing an audience that values presentation more than content and needs their attention grabbed and can thus happily close the tab.
@jon_alper @pilky they can be useful to set the mood, but it needs be used sparingly and only when it’s effective for longer pieces
@thomasfuchs @pilky Yeah! Definitely, and here’s a wacky idea…. Maybe stop using decorative images at all? (This thing the kids do where a decorative image pushes all content below the fold is maddening.)
