@lethn @Terry They aren't getting benefits. A local staffing organization hires them as independent contractors, so the staffing agency gets a cut, and the company actually hiring them doesn't need to pay benefits.

Apparently, they can get drivers licenses easier than citizens can too.

Oh fucking hell the maths just keeps getting more and more morbid, so we know now that the US government is causing total shitshows overseas on purpose. Taking advantage of the ensuing chaos to mass import cheap labour that can't say no at the expense of the local population to depress wages and then on top of it deliberately cirumventing their own laws paying them even less than is legally allowed?

I suppose the loophole is they're making up for it in benefits which is how these businesses end up being so profitable from the cheap imported labour. It's hard to imagine how they could make anything worse but they will find a way.

Not only are they war profiteering from weapons manufacturing by creating perpetual war zones in various parts of the world for no fucking reason they're supporting their friends 'local' businesses with cheap labour.

There are rumors that employers are exploiting a loophole and paying the Haitians less than minimum wage.

The minimum wage in Ohio is $10.45 an hour.

Previous job listings for metal workers at Macgregor Metal started at $17-19 an hour.
