@aaribaud Respectfully, I disagree with this. I think it's more nuanced than that.
Capitalism incentivises perpetual growth, but I don't agree with the idea that companies inherently *cannot* be ethical.
My point is that there's a paradox here: these technologies are enabled by that excessive growth, but to grow to such monolithic extent as Amazon and Google and Microsoft requires unethical behaviour.
You're welcome to disagree! I should have made it clearer that I was being (more) cynical (than my usual self).
[Were I to make a more serious point, I would have probably pointed out that the position of executive in a company (or any position of power really) tends to end up occupied by unethical people.]
