      @thisisaaronland I was in a session at Fediforum where we talked about geotagging ActivityPub content.

      Someone mentioned that platforms like Mastodon don't support location-tagging, and I suggested using machine tags when other UI for geotagging isn't available.

      AP has built in support for geotagging, so this would be a fallback.

      @evan @thisisaaronland
      Sorry to have missed that.
      I wrote an AP server which publishes geotags. And I think PixelFed supports them.

        Rebuilding FourSquare for ActivityPub using OpenStreetMap
        from @edent
        I used to like the original FourSquare. The "mayor" stuff was a bit silly, and my friends never left that many reviews, but I loved being able to signal to my friends "I am at this cool museum" or "We're at this pub if you want to meet" or "Spending the day at the park". […]

      @Edent @evan the “path_hierarchy” tokenizer makes it much easier to implement general purpose compound query and wildcard machine tag indexing and searching in open/elastic search these days / postgres etc still has the “left most index” problem to support all the possibilities unless something has changed recently – https://github.com/whosonfirst/whosonfirst-opensearch/blob/ee737f8b52501a9fbb69bb48de39f0586c1b36af/schema/2.x/mappings.spelunker.json#L62

      @Edent @thisisaaronland I want to start a task force in the Social Web Community Group at the W3C specifically to work on the geosocial schema.

      The Activity Vocabulary covers the types and properties in pretty good detail, but I think it would be good to map them into the ActivityPub API and protocol.
