    @neverbeaten @arclight

    I was working over much the same analogy the other day! I think it’s an illuminating one.

      Information pollution. The information available to us is polluted. It is hard to take in information without taking in pollution. Information pollution is age-old, but our current situation is new. Generative AI is causing an explosion of information pollution, mechanizing and automating it, in a way analogous to how the industrial revolution caused an explosion of air and water pollution. A.I. outputs of the 2020s will be looked back on in the same way we're looking at microplastics and PFAS now. They'll pollute everything, be difficult to filter out and eradicate, and persist.
