   people talking about shutting down their instances because they spend too much time on maintenance sounds insane to me. i probably spend like an hour or three a month and i keep hundreds of different containers up to date and running, if i had that 2.5 gig symmetrical home fiber then my uplink would be perfect

     @shibao at least that’s something misskey* get right. maintenance burden is about as low as it can be and updates/migrations have always been painless for me

     @shibao i spend less than 5 minutes a month on that
     
     but with mastodon it’s no surprise because it literally doesn’t even have a quota system for media, and the tootctl operation to purge remote media is both too destructive and takes for-fucking-ever to complete because ruby or something
     
     and with pleroma you’re just constantly fixing your database or some shit idk
