     Hashtags are mastodon algorithms. Nothing puts what you like in your timeline.

     Use hashtags, and also follow hashtags. Make a post with potential hashtags. Post it.

     Open it. Click on the hashtags, see what you get. If you like, FOLLOW that hashtags, there is a button on the top of the column.

     You now follow #climate as if it were a person, #pi #Cosplay #pie

     Now Follow folks, check who they follow, follow them, you only see who you follow, who they boost.

     Boosts, follows, hashtags.

     Sup everyone, I decided to give Mastodon a try so here I am!

     I can’t lie, I love everything STEM, but I’ll learn anything and everything remotely interesting.
     I’m new to the fediverse as a whole so I’m still learning all the basics, but I’m a quick learner and any and all advice is really appreciated

     I’ve heard there’s pretty much only real people here rather than bots, so I look forward to that!

     What should I do first?

     You do not need to be aware of anything about hashtags.

     If you don't like someone's posts, don't follow, stop following, or just hang on for the ride.

     If someone breaks rules, you might report them too.
