   @billyjoebowers difference is we used to combat that with uplifting things like Star Trek TNG and other depictions of a brighter future.
   
   We're not doing it this time around. Even Star Trek has gone angry/gloomy.

     I know the 80s are back but I don't think we needed to bring back the "Nothing matters we're all going to die in a dystopian nightmare" vibes.
