   @StephenRamirez @whitehouse I suggest we require gun owners to carry insurance. Insurance to pay out damages to people who are hurt by their guns. The premiums should be prohibitive. Let the insurance industry ruin the gun lobby like they ruined health care in this country.

     From this distance (Australia) that looks like a good plan.

     Our last mass shooting was in 1996.

     The government compulsorily bought all automatic weapons and destroyed them.

     It's now illegal to have an automatic weapon.

     We haven't had a mass shooting since.

     It might be because there's very few guns and they're hard to get.

     US shootings make me sick with sorrow.

     To me, the NRA looks just like an undeclared political party.
