   What is the plan for people who are upset at Telegram not effectively moderating their platform whilst simultaneously promoting E2EE? Is it good that we're giving pedophiles and terrorists even more privacy?

     @matty That's not being refuted. But how long before Meredith is arrested for not helping the cops find criminals on Signal? Once every platform is forced to go E2EE for everything they'll have no choice but to move their efforts to prosecuting everyone who runs a platform that can protect criminal activity.

     @ignaloidas It's not true that they did nothing, they publish transparency reports and allegedly take down "millions of posts" per day. You and I cannot verify this but there haven't been other governments refuting this so it's probably mostly true

     @feld@friedcheese.us tbh I think it's more of the moral argument, telegram knew(or at least could easily know and stop) about that shit and did nothing, whereas signal by design doesn't have such agency.
