@MusiqueNow That's awesome. And thanks! I suspect a lot of it is connected to the "commune in the north" that some of the very same folks have been developing, which threatens to undermine the state -- and the raids were carried out within days of the arrests at the far right riots, which served the state's narrative of false equivalence in targeting not only fascists but also antifascists, also serving as a smokescreen in the media coverage.
I boosted this video for people (and myself) to learn about #BentleyUrbanFarm
Hi. i hope your friends are doing well.
In your opinion, why do you think what happened at Bentley isn't a bigger story?
The odd thing is I'm not even hearing updates and stuff from progressive media.
Also, I just happened to find out about what's going on with #ZAD in France, I'm like ...What's with that?
If i didn't happen to stumble across the updated story a few days ago, I wouldn't have known
@MusiqueNow Good point. I think media is in crisis, because it's been made almost entirely a commodity and anticapitalists keep joining in playing along with those rules rather than actually running anticapitalist media in form and not just content. It's a reason I hope The Intersection can be developed -- it would be driven by news from and for communities.
Particularly with ZAD, I think people have a tendency to focus more on stories in their language.
So, unless it's a story that circulates among left and anarchist circles but translated into someone's language, people don't focus on it as much.
I think It's Going Down tried to cover ZAD, and the interview was conducted in English. But the story didn't take off, like say Cop City may be.
Anyway, the point it is, the concern here is the more stories are known, the more support people get, whether it's Chris Kaba's family, ZAD, Bentley Urban Farm, Richard Barnard, Lina E, Marius Mason, etc.
@MusiqueNow Very true. It's why the likes of IGD and Freedom do such good work. I just think they're battling against a wave of commercial media, even when they stand out. A modernised version of IndyMedia would be so effective. I wrote a thorough examination of this on my website as a manifesto of sorts. I'm hoping something can be developed as a kind of Mutu-meets-Beehaw.
