@chiefgyk3d well...if they'd have implemented AP instead of trying "we have AP at home", they might be competitive.
However, we're left with a """"decentralized"""" (but not really) protocol (but only BlueSky) that's very confusing to understand their goals.
They claim to allow easier user migration, but user migration that's still within BlueSky isn't really migration, is it?
From what I understand of the protocol (if I even have it understood correctly) is that if you host a PDS, your account info and posts are stored there and BlueSky only gets the public facing info like the public key, profile info, and posts.
Then, they have the "AppView", which if my understanding is correct, is just BlueSky for now, as an example. Similar to how Mastodon is an app, except the data and app are separated. There are other "appviews" like Whitewind and Frontpage.xyz that have different purposes and UI that *can* be seperate from BlueSky if your account is hosted on your own PDS.
There's very few Appviews as far as I can tell, so far.
