Like most things, our prescription system is designed to protect abled people from their own stupidity, not make it easier and simpler for people who actually engage with it regularly to get the medicines they need to thrive.

I'm on lots of meds and managing my prescriptions is literally a top five source of stress in my life right now because of stupid, ridiculous FDA reqs and doctors' abandonment of us all to unending disease and disability.

My BIL recently ended up in the hospital because of said fuckery. Different med. They're hoping the many zeroes on the hospital bill will cause the insurance to revaluate whether screwing around with monthly meds is a sound financial decision.

Anyone else familiar with the whole "oop the system is fucking me over" feeling that a med you can't go off of cold turkey is suddenly hard to get because of doctor fuck ups so you have to beg healthcare workers to give you like two so your don't stroke out?

By the way - literally the most prescribed most benign Rx in the world. 🤷♂️

wheeeee American healthcare fuck this place

@deirdrebeth @johnzajac Simple rule of thumb: there is basically no prescription which, by delaying approval of coverage, you can save more money than you lose on an additional day (ntm multiple days) of hospitalization due to patient not being able to be discharged without it.

@deirdrebeth @johnzajac An utterly huge portion of the ridiculous cost of healthcare is insurance companies shooting themselves (ntm the patient) in the foot and spending $50000 trying to save $100 denying someone something they need.

The ghouls instructing employees to do this should at least face fiduciary duty suits even if we're unwilling to actually bring charges on behalf of patients...
