@SpurgAnon I think the most critical thing to pay attention to is the fact that pastuerization isn't a 0 cost operation - it destroys things you want. People used to understand things like this were a trade-off.

@sickburnbro pasteurization is necessary but only in situations where you cannot reasonably refrigerate. We now have superior refrigeration tech, so why not benefit from proper bacteria?

What is important to note is that the entire point of pasteurization of milk is to make so that the lowest ability workers can produce it safely.

@sickburnbro If people saw the characters who work at industrial dairy operations preparing their food at a restaurant they would get up and walk out.
"Raw Milk" gets good press because "Unprocessed Milk Collected by the Cheapest Central Americans Who Could Find No Other Work" doesn't sound as good.

@Appelmoesje @EvilSandmich When you knew the famer you were getting the milk from, it was much less sketchy to drink raw milk. But when all of a sudden you are getting milk delivered from a company which sources milk from a dozen farms .. well that's a lot of people you don't know.
