   I'm going to once again formally recommend that Soapbox servers not use Akkoma as the backend. They broke Soapbox support and removed Chats.

     New Soapbox versions are probably compatible all the way back to Pleroma 0.9. (2018?)
     
     We parse the backend name and version number from /api/v1/instance, then enable features by comparing the version with the version when the feature was introduced.

     @alex For people on pleroma backend it should be fine to mix and match with soapbox FE versions, or should we be on latest?

     The dev is actually very smart, I appreciate that he has a strong vision and I've even followed in his footsteps on a few things. However I think his vision is still ultimately for the Fediverse to hide in a dumpster, while I want to make it mainstream.

     @alex @MischievousTomato someone recommended me look at akkoma due to performance improvements (and it seems like they are making efforts) but im gonna be honest when i saw the people working on it ... yeah, some of them have made really questionable decisions in the past, would rather avoid this
