If I got a free iPhone I would give it away.

I think you are focusing on the wrong things.
If you want free platforms then you are the product, simple as that.
Me? I pay for a working search engine, Kagi Search, instead of thinking that good things are free.
I would gladly pay rumble a fee to opt out of the ads. It is not a problem for me because I don't believe in free stuff.
rumble has done more for free speech than any other platforms or individuals so far. So why the negativity?

I've coded multiple plugins for PeerTube for monetization, podcast player compatibility, and strengthening the back end torrent distribution network, I also run ~dozen federated servers. I'm patient, I just point out the pointlessness of trusting the latest "free speech wing of the internet" corporate bullshit for fun.

All of these sites are tied to google's tracking and selling the viewers out. The only one's who don't are PeerTube and paywalled sites like https://unauthorized.tv/

Google had chricis meetings when Donald Trump won the election in 2016.
People were breaking down crying on the hallways.
They had meetings, brainstorming about what they would do to make sure that Trump never won another election.
And they even brag about it openly.
Don't compare YT with rumble. Try to see the overall picture.

I don't know. I think people in general are underestimating the influence google has.
But now we have rumble and X so google and fb no longer control what people can and can not say anymore.

Anyone can see from the network traffic in theier browser when using Rumble that is demonstrably untrue (see attached example for the normies)

It's not the ads per se, it's all the tracking links for google and other ad companies. it's the centralization making them inherrently vulnerable to DDOS attacks. It's the clear enshitification process well underway. It's the venture capital funded unsustainable creator contracts.
