@timo21 He probably is, although I think the bigger factor in his career has been that he runs interference for reactionaries, putting reasonable-sounding words to policies that are destructive and foolish.
He did this with Trump before leaving the Senate. He then switched to doing it for Ron DeSantis, which is why he got the UF job in the first place.
Unfortunately, white collar companies are filled with legions of people like him, thoroughly mediocre, but they check the ideological box.
