     google doesn't care about its users as anything more than paypigs. even medium to big channels get treated like garbage by corporate. that's how i knew it never had anything to do with "mental health" because anyone who has ever worked with google knows they couldn't give any less of a shit.

     @Vo @captainepoch i remember old scuttlebutt from failed platforms being 480p is profitable to stream. 720p is conditionally profitable. 1080p is a real strain and 4k is a total loss. even netflix doesn't ship 4k, they ship some quasi-3k and sell it as 4k.
     
     i haven't shopped for space in a while. last i knew it was trendy to use S3, or some cheeky folk used backblaze B2, so you can just rent some living storage for the videos.
     
     i'd have to have a real good reason to bother with effort platforms.
