     I got pretty clever about it, I installed lsl3 in the norton commander folder and renamed the .exe file. I think just launched with a .bat file.

     yeah I had a C64 early which was good, but not getting a PC promptly really strapped my development. I had a friend doing amazing stuff in Turbo Pascal

     You could really learn a lot on those things if you were curious about computers as a kid.

     My first access to a computer was the apple 2gs, which was pretty slick. It came with a magazine that had all kinds of programming stuff in it. Unfortunately we only had it for about a year or two before Apple went downhill in the late 80's.
     
     My dad sold it and we got a nice ass 386 except I wasnt allowed to touch it unsupervised ha

     That probably would have required a modem, I think you don't know how old that box was. It was $1 in 1998. The floppy drive wasn't even 1.44M, it was 720k. I had to get stuff to it by putting it on floppies that were formatted at half capacity.

     Our school was redoing everything so they just piled all the old computers up out back. I grabbed one and lugged it like 8 blocks back to my house ha. Took me forever to clean it up. Good shit tho, having that thing in my room until my mom decided to chuck it one day.
