   I think it might be useful to frame it more as "so we know this isn't Christianity in any meaningful sense, but what do they get from this", in the "help folks see these people as human and what they can do to get them back to the real world"

     would anyone want to read a "these people are deeply unserious about Christianity" about American political Christians, or do we all know and it's kind of beating a dead horse?
