     I wish I could explain it here, but 500 character limit lol

     the easy and boring explanation is that the final area is loaded at the start of the game so you just need to gain height until you get there. you spend the entire 60 hours just backstabbing people

     holy FUCK lmao apparently there's a glitch you can do which grants you access to the final area early. it involves 6 people (3 hostile summons, 2 friendly and the host) and SIXTY HOURS of probably the most mind numbing repetition you've ever seen

     on the uphand, I did pretty freaking well against two people. did a hell of a lot of damage which they were able to heal of course but I did get one of them down to 5% health

     the secret? go crackhead mode. be unpredictable. do the most braindead shit and they won't know what hit them

     it seems like I bumped into someone else who was in the same situation as me - I got invaded in farron keep at soul level 120 lmao

     that, or they forgot to change their covenant

     anyway thankfully I remembered a much better method of getting the covenant items which was Literally Just Use Cheat Engine To Dupe Them All and it worked great!

     three. three rings are locked behind multiplayer covenants. there is apparently also no item dupe glitch that you can do solo. so that's cool, I either spend a week grinding the covenant items from enemies (less than 1% chance, I need a total of 50 of them and only have 12) or I restart the entire character because "lol you should've looked this up beforehand"

     oh my god one of the rings (decided to go for rings) is locked behind a multiplayer covenant, and since I'm endgame leveled I can't get the covenant items through multiplayer any more. they are a ridiculously low drop chance from some of the enemies in the area but I can only have a slight boost to my item discovery because lol missed half of the stuff that would give you more item discovery lol

     LOL I didn't even know you can stagger the nameless king. granted, I don't know how much poise damage I'm doing but I'd imagine it to be pretty high as this is the heaviest greatsword in the game

     some things are locked behind questlines and if you fail those quests you are now completely locked out of those things and if you wanted to get all sorceries/pyromancies/miracles/gestures/rings in the same run it'd take a meticulous amount of planning

     also getting all rings means you'd need to go to NG+2 at the very least

     nobody has made a route for that so screw it I'm just gonna go one at a time haha

     final build: 40 vigor, 30 endurance, 60 strength (with knight's ring), 17 dexterity. could've saved a few soul levels by not leveling dex as high (the fume ultra greatsword only requires 10) but, you know, experimentation.

     dark souls 3 was fun! hadn't played it for years. also got a good amount of co-op done, despite the game's aging nature. I used to be somewhat decent at PVP, but years of rust have done their job. the soundtrack is ridiculously good

     ah, I was just reminded of a specific piece of cut content:

     Oceiros, the Consumed King was supposed to be holding a baby in his hand during the fight. before they removed the baby, his second phase has him slamming the baby on the ground and you can hear the baby cry for a split second before a bloody splat sound plays. in the final game they removed the baby and made Oceiros vocalize stuff like "where have you gone? are you hiding from me?"

     a cool 1/3rd of his health bar wiped out right at the start of the fight on a somewhat optimized build

     ah, I had completely forgotten the joys of peer-to-peer gaming: if the host is playing on a bad connection, enemies may take several seconds to register a hit and if they moved at all during that period it means you didn't hit them because the host disagrees lmao

     bro, what?? they still haven't fixed getting stuck in the old demon king's club?? I remember dying because of that in the first week of launch! that's crap, getting killed after a good fight because "lol thing went too fast so you clipped inside of the thing and now you can't get out as the boss does its massive damage AoE"

     also it was nice to see that despite last playing this game in 2019, my muscle memory for the abyss watchers fight was still there. a couple of mistakes but recovered well, beat them on the first try

     gosh it feels so nice to be playing dark souls 3 again after 90h of dark souls 1. everything is just more... refined. smoother. less clunky
