The other day at work a Pole arrived, we talked in english and at some point he said fuck.
I was like nah man, as a pole you should say kurwa.
He proceeded to explain how kurwa is a bad word giving me a few examples.
"Yes but you can use fuck in the exact same way"
so I repeated every example he made but replaced kurwa with fuck, he thought about it a moment and said I wasn't wrong.
Then he started using kurwa a lot.
I'm still confused about the situation.

  This wikipedia article suggests that while kurwa use isn't common in Poland, it is also not hard to find.

    Prostitution in Poland is legal, but operating brothels or other forms of pimping or coercive prostitution and prostitution of minors are prohibited. History Early period The travelling prostitute is recorded in the tenth century. Dozens of brothels thrived on the outskirts of central Warsaw since its establishment as the national capital in the sixteenth century, as in other large Polish cities and towns.   I guess foreign profanity hits different.
  I dunno how common kurwa is used among the Poles.
  Fuck is common in very casual settings among the English speakers, but otherwise it has a lot of power.
