SuperDicq (superdicq@minidisc.tokyo)'s status on Thursday, 15-Aug-2024 22:41:24 JST SuperDicq @newt@stereophonic.space I have 3 felonies on record for traffic violations, so I won't be able to become a bus or taxi driver until these charges expire in a few years.

SuperDicq (superdicq@minidisc.tokyo)'s status on Thursday, 15-Aug-2024 22:56:22 JST SuperDicq @newt@stereophonic.space Nope, they are felonies, I almost lost my driver's license.
Traffic violations go from misdemeanors to felonies when they are severe enough, even though you didn't put anyone in danger. -

Considering my driving habits at the time I was already glad that I didn't get charged with reckless driving. -

Vinnewed Goblin (warmbeverageenjoyer@fsebugoutzone.org)'s status on Thursday, 15-Aug-2024 23:04:31 JST Vinnewed Goblin @SuperDicq @newt sorry, i should have specified i meant miles. looks like its similar to NL, since 30 km = ~18 mi
tbh, its super unreasonable. it makes sense on roads, but our highways have limits of like 55 miles (~88 km), but nobody goes that speed unless its packed. if its clear, every car on the highway, including the cops, is going 70+ -

These are just the times I wasn't paying attention for cops behind me.
If I'm doing like actual street drifting or something I check if there's no cops around first. -

Oh no, the roads are well designed here. If you go that fast through a corner in your mom's SUV you would definitely die. My Mazda MX5 with a ton of mods is just a lot more nimble than your average car.

i regularly go ~80km on ~50km roads, right past speedtraps, and they don't care around here. I wonder what the cutoff is for when they get off their ass and pull you over
tbh though, the ability to go that much faster than the posted limit is an indication of shitty road design. want people to go slower? add features to the road to encourage them to slow down. NOT necessarily speed bumps.
curves in the road with trees etc blocking line of sight, narrower lanes, etc. but that's much pricier than a shiny useless little speed limit sign -

This might get reversed soon with our new government, one of the only good things they will do. -

Government hoped that they could offset the emissions caused by farming using this.

It's such an absolutely insane feat for a small ass country that farmers get a lot of political power here.
Personally I think we should just stop producing 10 times more food than we actually consume ourselves, but whatever.
