@kaia ironically i feel like impurities in the diamond from the mining process might be able to do that kaia likes this. -

@p @kaia no you don’t get it, blood sweat and tears and lives lost and families destroyed over mining shiny rock give it value!! -

@kaia @meso Hate to be that guy but mined diamonds probably have impurities that make them look different to rock enjoyers. That's how other gems are appraised at least according to some professional gem cutter here on fedi who even posted pics of his workbench. He also had a bot that posted gem design schematics but I lost it in the Great Shitposter Migration. kaia likes this. -

@moth_ball @meso
oooh I recall him!
yeah lesser stones have impurities, but the incredibly expensive ones were the really really clean ones. aaand those the Chinese now fabricate.
a formerly $250,000 bracelet now is $1,500 for its silver and gold value. -

@kaia @meso There's a reason why diamonds haven't been a viable investment in a long time kaia likes this. -

@kaia The price of even blood diamonds has been artificially inflated for a long, long time - the second someone walked out of that Jewellery store, that $250,000 diamond bracket would have at least halved in retail value.
Flawless diamonds are boring - those are just a block of carbon.
Diamonds with impurities are honestly worth more, as they have very interesting colours.kaia likes this.
