BY VARYING TORQUE TO THESE TWO THEY JUST KEEP THE ICE ENGINE STEADY AND SUPPLY THE RIGHT TORQUE/SPEED TO THE WHEELS WITH ELECTRIC

@nugger @parusmajor @NitroDubs People will talk crap about the Prius, but the drivetrain system is one complicated enough to stand alone and is one of the most impressive things to kind of show up out of nowhere.

@nugger They used the gas engine exclusively as a generator. It was kinda wild to drive as the engine started and revved without any relation to what you were doing that second with the electric motor.

@nugger @parusmajor @NitroDubs Variable exhaust pressure will be a new thing and can probably be used to tune some things combined with VVT and turbo. They're trying to do stuff with TEGs (Thermo Electric Generator) which is a voltage driver from temperature differential. It's not great, but it's voltage, so it could be used for tiny mild hybrid effect or over voltage for starting electric motor torque or something.
