   It sounds like it's nigh time for folks to start taking crowbars to that SpaceGrey walled garden. More Apple app developers need to invest on "escape hatches" and not dig their heels in more.

   Depends on what folks are looking for: Apple to "revert course" or an actual chance to break out.

     Apple has a huge advantage here too: people who use Patreon on iOS are going to think it's _Patreon_ doing this (those who aren't aware of this) because of how Apple works to make the clear (read: economic) things hidden. Patreon might not lose users (just might see a lot of uninstalls or drop on subscriptions on mobile), but that hurts even smaller options (like what if https://comradery.co/ had made a client for iOS? It would be DOA because of how the model works).

     The consumer politics of technology really is fucking things up here. It's easy to see why folks see the Web as the premier escape hatch (but then on iOS, you're severely limited by what Apple permits).

     This isn't even to promote Android (or other options). But it's to have folks intentionally locked in the garden to question if they had a chance out, what would it look like?
