My wife’s inheritance means I won’t *need* a high paying job any more, just something with good health insurance. That means I can take a job building something fun for a small company, instead of lots of monotonous stuff for a big company.
Most fun I had as an engineer was doing skunkworks development, but I have no idea how to even look for such a job. How does one advertise themselves for something so niche?

It's so dehumanizing, so disconnected. So much of reducing customer base to metrics. Also would really like to find some place that isn't running on deficit spending of venture capital, but thats basically a unicorn these days.
We _could_ go through covered california, I'm just apprehensive of how much it would cost for our family of four to get a PPO like I have through work.
