     "Ohhhhh why do the people in this foreign country live 15 years longer than us? Maybe it's all the olives/fish/rice/nuts/etc they eat!"

     It's because going to a doctor there costs like $6. That's it. Mystery solved. Turns out people live longer if their 70th birthday isn't locked behind a pay wall.

     @figstick @squared99 — 62% of Americans want Universal Healthcare. The reason we don’t have it is because of GOP lead gerrymandering after the censuses of 2000, 2010, and again in 2020.
     Gerrymandering has made it a situation where you have to win over 70% of the popular vote to overcome this gerrymandering.
     There has been ample proof of this for a long time before #maga and #project2025 came along so you have to claim responsibility for this as a self proclaimed Repub.

     @jeffowski Moved from Canada (universal healthcare) to NZ for 10 years (universal healthcare) to the US for 6 years (privatized healthcare). Things I learned:

     - what is considered bare minimum healthcare in Canada/NZ is a "gold-plated fortune 500 CEO" benefits plan in US.

     - The whole 'govment' bureaucracy thing for socialized medicine doesn't hold a candle to the "in network/out of network" labyrinth of insurance providers.

     - My daughter cost 60K USD to be born
