   @evamik @mia @snacks i suspect XEPs are some form of unix brainworms actually. what a dumb fucking idea. yes I'd like a patchwork of dozens of *optional* features. yes every client and server needs to support all of these in order to not cause major confusion. perfectly reasonable.

     @snacks @mia @lucy @evamik Usenet isn't really federated either. I use it every day (best source for media) but I can't run my own server and publish to theirs. There are some free Usenet services you can peer with but they're going to heavily filter which groups they'll send you articles from to lower their costs. If you wanted to receive all the binaries groups and you had the bandwidth/storage to do so I'm not even sure who to contact to get access.
