   🧵 Most of us are focusing our attention on the presidential race right now but there's something extremely important happening that isn't getting noticed: Far-right Republicans are destroying the anti-disinformation organizations.

   Through subpoenas and lawsuits, they are aiming to censor and intimidate anyone who stands for information quality, as @Noupside and I discussed on "Theory of Change"

     The United States has the industrial and educational institutions of an advanced industrial economy, but it has an abnormally large population of religious and market fundamentalists who hate empiricism and scientific thinking.

     American Christians are much less likely to believe that humans evolved than Christians in other industrialized nations. They've become dangerously radicalized because they know they've lost intellectually.

     In her new book, "Invisible Rulers," @Noupside talks about the vicious campaign of right-wing government censorship and intimidation that she and her former colleagues at the Stanford Internet Observatory experienced.

     Instead of accepting her invitation to talk about information quality standards, Jim Jordan and others have attacked all standards. In so doing they've copied what Big Tobacco did originally with research showing smoking caused cancer.
