Sick Sun (sun@shitposter.world)'s status on Saturday, 03-Aug-2024 00:48:55 JST Sick Sun @thatguyoverthere markdown for styled email isn't necessarily as good as HTML can be but if you just want styling of text then it is a perfectly fine middle ground. -

Sick Sun (sun@shitposter.world)'s status on Saturday, 03-Aug-2024 01:26:26 JST Sick Sun @susie @thatguyoverthere Markdown is a semi-acceptable middle ground good for many purposes.
I also agree that HTML allows you to just send the client a giant pile of unaccessible shit (and often does.)
regarding things like tracker links and giant images clients can block this. -

Susanna (susie@blob.cat)'s status on Saturday, 03-Aug-2024 01:26:28 JST Susanna @sun @thatguyoverthere If it can't do white text on yellow background I'm not interested :blobcatdevil:
HTML emails are problematic due to the fact they are freaking websites read by web browsers. So they can be used for evil or just graphical design is my passion/looks nice on my screen emails. Not to mention all the fluff like pixel trackers, hiding link urls, sending 6mb images scaled down to tiny icons on the signature etc.
Markdown or similar is way better. Or just plain text with some ASCII "formatting" and anchors for images. (As in: described in the attachment 3, or [3] etc whatever citation/anchor you prefer). There's plenty that can be done with plain text. -
