   youtube is filled with videos proclaiming everything I've been doing that made the bulk of my income over the last 14 years is a hype scam bubble. its basically lasted longer and been more profitable than anything normal I've done and allowed me to escape debt and soul crushing working conditions. in addition to that I'm now an expert in some of these things and the computer science is real and they're fucking retarded youtubers

     @newt I don't actually know the economics of being a youtuber these days but if you're in the USA and not making a couple hundred thou a year you're probably struggling to buy health insurance on the open market since you don't have an employer

     @radmin @anemone it is more about the youtubers (and websites). There is constantly new things happening and they just shit on it. I get being against hype and against the way that the crappiest version of everything persists though.

There's a lot of bait videos about how the tech industry is doomed and that you shouldn't have a career there. Usually, they will have everything in uppercase with a shocked/angry head and whatever the fuck.
