   @miscbrains to be clear I'm not exactly saying you're wrong, there are numerous mastering reasons that DVDs could have been worse in year one than the mature LD mastering at the same time.

     @sun@shitposter.world yep, i got your drift. A throw away line that I just ran across most likely describes it in a perhaps too convenient occam's razor type fashion. The audio production pipeline for movies most likely let them almost or completely let them drop the theatrical audio assets onto LDs. On the other hand, they probably had to cobble together something to get it onto DVDs that needed some time to cook.
