The Logitech subscription mouse gave me an idea - Ethernet attached mouse, using PoE of course. I'm pretty sure USB-over-IP is a thing already?
Someone make this please, it would be hilarious.

@ryanc i want a Point to Point Pointer Protocol Powered over Ethernet (PPPPPoE)
@rotopenguin OMG YEESSSSSSSS
@rotopenguin I'm mad I can't boost you twice
@ryanc I'm going to demand fiber optic version with ipv6 only.
@liiwi Power over Ethernet with optical is a bit spicy.
@ryanc so... you know a lot of new residential lighting is going the way of PoE....
It's only a matter of time before that is all converted to subscription ewaste.
I would think that would violate some laws for accessibility and commercial code that requires certain lumen levels in occupied spaces.
@kajer I may have been thinking of you when I made this shitpost.
@ryanc <3
@liiwi sure, but how much juice can that practically provide?
@ryanc Never underestimate the power of photons! Think about lasers!
