I think people have an incorrect view of violence. It can easily destroy a nation, but a nation can also not survive without it.
Too much violence and you get African villiages, where things of value which are hard to build don't get built because they will be targeted. But a nation which has no taste for violence will be destroyed by the first saboteur.

It's like vilifying hate as evil. when the reality is that without hatred love means way less. Hatred and violence properly applied are beautiful

@Jonaschuzzlewit the "violence never solves anything" is one of those bad truisms people bandy about which is close enough in a well behaved western society.

You also have to blame the false Christian moralities of Christian pacism, non-intervention, and the like, the perpetuated the last few centuries in all branches, which mangle, misinterpret, and hyperfocus on the "turn the other check," "love your enemies," and "my kingdom is not of this world" verses, painting a false Christ and morality.
The real Christ is one who said those, though properly put in context and interpreted, yet also was the one who commanded Moses and Joshua to slaughter every man, women, and child of the Canaanite tribes, warned unbelievers that they would be cast into Gehenna, told active rebels against God that they would be ones "who did not want [Christ] to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before [Him]," prophesied that He is one who "in righteousness...judges and makes war," and will "put all his enemies under his feet."

It's amazing how the Gentiles crave to live under jewish Law ...
[Mat 5:38-39 KJV] 38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
We're not jewish.

Tooth for tooth is straight out of the Law.
We're not under the Law. I don't break your tooth because of Love. He doesn't damn me to Hell because of Love. We don't want justice. We're guilty. We have mercy. We have grace. Do likewise. Be perfect like your Father in Heaven is perfect.

@bobbala @SuperSnekFriend in difficult times like this, what is *not* said is as important as what is said, because evil people have corrupted language.
"neighbor" in many passages is interpreted as "everyone" But it doesn't say "everyone"
it says "turn the other cheek" it does not say "let them beat you down and steal everything"
Being peaceful does not mean being a slave.

I understand. When the jews were being conquered by Babylon. The people wanted to fight. Then the people wanted to run. Jeremiah said lay down, this was the judgement of God. Trust Him and He'll get you thru the storm.
Perhaps Nebuchadnezzar is back.

You're proving my point. Gentiles want to live like jews. We're not jews. You're twisting the Law to your approval. Very talmudic.
[Lev 19:18 NKJV] 18 'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I [am] the LORD.

@bobbala @SuperSnekFriend what do you think "your people" and "your neighbor" mean here - "all people of the world" ?
