@JessTheUnstill that was still an exercise in eagerly conceding to bad faith right wing demands in the name compromise. And all the concessions eviscerated the ACA and cost them congress, which cost them the supreme court.

I hold the extremely unpopular pair of opinions that the ACA was both (1) a triumphant feat of legislative wrangling, a crucial leap forward that changed the lives of people I love for better and was larger than we could have reasonably expected under political constraints at the time, and (2) is still •grossly• inadequate and didn’t go nearly far enough.(Half the world yells at me about 2, the other half about 1.)

The last time I remember Dems going on offense was sanders ran as a democrat on an anti-capitalist platform and millions of people learned we can ask for what we need

The benefits of the ACA could have been achieved with a Medicare for all style plan, any positives were not unique to its structure
But the ACA has a lot of unique costs. It’s a system that funnels massive amounts of federal and patient money to a corrupt and criminal for profit private insurance industry, which has only raised CEO pay to insane levels while denying care as a profit model. Meanwhile millions fall through the cracks (I did)
