This is the bad thing about Fedi.
Calling for Fediblocking of literal millions of people because of the actions of 1 man, helps nobody.
Yes, he's a shit human being that just got hired by a shit company.
How is that the fault of any one of the 200+ million users on Threads that don't even know this man exists?
Furthermore, how is it the fault of anyone federating with Threads?🤦♂️

@BeAware To be fair, considering other issues surrounding the company and their practices, this one fact alone is probably unlikely to be the final straw for too many people.
Still, something worth knowing about regardless of where you stand, I suppose.

@stefan yeah...but the other issues also go along with what I'm saying.
The 200+ million people there mostly have nothing to do with Meta and most of them probably feel *stuck* there, uninformed about Fedi.

@BeAware Right. Well I'm not going to rehash the arguments from both camps on this.
The good thing about the fediverse is that you can always find a server that fits your expectations.

Treat it like you would any other instance.
But the specific post that's linked doesn't do that.
They're calling for people that are federated with threads to be Fediblocked as well, which makes absolutely no sense.
On other instances, single admins are making the decision for their entire instance without polling their users first. Which is a terrible Fedi admin behavior.
If all of these things align, then of course, do as your instance sees fit. It's the "block people who are passive to my enemy" and admins making the decisions for thousands of users, that keep annoying me...

yeah, you've got 200+ million users. Some might be okay. But some might have 'opinions' that are really hurtful — and were they on any other Fedi instance, that instance would be Fediblocked if they did not take action, or the instance moderates the user appropriately
also, didn't Meta have something about "by interacting with our users you agree to let us your your content for whatever" or something like that? I understand why one would want to ensure users don't randomly interact with some random account on their timeline, only for that account to be a Threads account and for info to be unknowingly and unwillingly collected
TL;DR, treat Meta like you would any other Fedi instance
