So ive been long considering the very high rates of ADHD in the queer community and from there, the fact that ADHD has the issue of increasing Postural Sway in a lot of individuals

    https://www.healthline.com/health/fitness/postural-sway-adhd

and whether thats the underlying science behind not just the act of "Bisexual Sitting" but also a lot of queer movement styles potentially even Vogueing.

@JoscelynTransient you're most welcome to chew on the area of thought as i am. a lot of queer movements just seem very natural.

@siege why are you always thinking deep and interesting thoughts, siege? 😅🤦🏻♀️ As a bisexual with ADHD, all I can say is "the struggle is real" 😅

i just feel if you've got a community of people with very high rates of conditions that lead to increase in Postural Sway (ADHD, Anxiety, cPTSD) and Hypermobility (Ehlers-Danlos EDS) to the point it normalizes and people begin to copy each other socially (where in genpop its often too rare a diagnosis), then naturally you're going to see unique movement styles within that group forming that revolve more around how their bodies move.

reminds me that during my own training my movement teachers often remarked that i had physically a great affinity to techniques like Butoh which revels a lot more in odd shape/odd moving bodies.

      A historical case in point..

"Jimmy was the name that Kate (Hepburn) gave to her child alter ego. She really felt more comfortable living as a boy, as many girls do as part of the tomboy tradition. But in so many ways she would refer to Jimmy all her life, which told me that he never really left. One of her friends from The Oxford School back in Hartford said to me, “We all were like that, but we grew out of it. She never did.” I think she often thought of herself as a man. She often used male pronouns when she was describing herself. She might say, “I’m the best guy to do the job” or “I’m the man who takes care of things.” She referred to herself as a man and thought and really interacted in the world like a man would. I think that’s so important to understand about her—that this inner self of hers was Jimmy. Jimmy really lasted all her life. And I think Jimmy was the most real personification of Katharine Hepburn."

@siege I’d never encountered the term “bisexual sitting” before but wow, it me.

(an observation I’m posting, COMPLETELY COINCIDENTALLY, on the way back from visiting the osteopath who has over several weeks been very gently pointing out all my hilarious postural quirks)
