   Yes I am a Christian and I it's a very private thing for me. When I saw that, I was surprised by my reaction too. I got really angry. And mind you, I am one of those lazy Christians who don't attend church regularly and not an evangelical. (I am Lutheran, as mainstream boring as you can get.
   Imagine a devout Christian's reaction.
   I am sure if God were to hear me ranting would say: "Don't worry, I can take care of myself!"
   Still, am 💔 that they think it's ok to do this.

     Hi Liz, were you just as upset by past visual jokes, such as in M.A.S.H, the Simpsons, the Sopranos, etc, when the painting genuinely was being made fun of?
     If not, perhaps consider if the recently weaponised 'Christianity' of many US right-wingers may have made you (and others) ready to see an insult when none was intended, so deliberately smearing an event of friendly global cooperation.
     But we all owe it to each other to use as much critical thinking as possible in these complicated times.

     @ellane thank you. Honestly your reply made me feel reassured that I am not crazy for reacting negatively. I am no longer angry but extremely puzzled by this. It was a lost opportunity to highlight the beauty of France, and I am sad about it.

     I'm not angry over it, but I do think it presented a confusing and disrespectful message. If one is about inclusivity, why create a presentation that insults the deeply held beliefs of many?

     There's a lot to be said for treating others as they /should have/ treated you, rather than giving back tit for tat. The Last Supper mockery makes as much sense to me as a parent whacking their kid, while saying "That'll teach you to hit your brother!"

     @liztai You are most welcome, and rest assured it's not just you and me who feel this way.

     As another commenter noted, it's not the first time events and symbols sacred to the Christian faith have been mocked.

     But this is like the difference between locker room teasing, and being put down in front of the whole school—by the principal.
