   In another life I coulda been a campaign strategist, and a long time ago those doors were open for me.

   I just refuse to work for monsters who work for even worse monsters.

   But I know the history, I know how successful political campaigns work and have always worked in America. Almost nobody wins taking the high road. You get their asses. You throw that mud. If the guy's a corrupt scumbag nazi, you say that and let the sympathizers howl. You fight.

   Or you lose.

     Harris doesn't have that baggage. And whether she will or not AFTER she's elected, has no bearing whatsoever on the actual race being run right now.

     Folks ain't looking for anyone to bring the nazis back to reason; they're looking for someone to fight the nazis.

     Sadly, it's also why Germany is losing it right now. As far as politicians and media are concerned, it's all just appeasement of fascists, humble "fact-checking" that might do more bad than good as it always repeats fancy fascist fairy tales and toned down muttering, mixed with neoliberal crap everyone is weary of. /o\

     "Fact-checking" means nothing and is reduced to mere propaganda itself when the "fact-checkers" barely mask their own agenda. See Snopes and the "Vance cushions" debacle, or anything from Media Matters (correct in general about the Republican/Christian Right, but crickets on Democrats' collusion with them).
