Hey friends! Am i going to find pain if i go with Debian vs Ubuntu based Linux or vice versa? I'm about to maybe try Mint 22, but before I do I wanted a distro with a green energy, coop kinda team behind it. Nothing is leaping at me so far. I dunno who the least corpo & most Eco people would be. 🤔

@rspfau @media_dept Fedora = Red Hat = IBM = hundred billion dollar corporation

OpenSuse = EQT AB (Swedish Private Equity firm with hundreds of billions in assets under management)

Ubuntu = Canonical = hundred million dollar corporation

@media_dept Linux distros arent like Windows or Apple...theres no central company employing hundreds of workers. Often just a guy piecing components together that were made by other guys...from home. So there's not really anything to be green. You'll be happy with Cinnamon Mint.

Heres some history behind Mint if you're interested:

Q&A: Clement Lefebvre: The man behind Linux Mint
Linux Mint, an Ubuntu and Debian-based Linux distribution, has seen tremendous growth in community support and installed base in recent years. Since arriving on the scene in 2006 with its first release called "Ada," Mint has become the most popular FOSS operating system on DistroWatch.com, surpassing both Ubuntu and Debian themselves.

@aral Totally! I edited my post b/c I meant to say "most" arent companies but that most are linked back to the companies in some way or another. I.e. it's complicated.
